What were once considered ‘developing countries’ are becoming the centers of growth and innovation in the global economy. In many ways, the future of global markets is being defined right now in the informal settlements and marketplaces of cities like Bogota, São Paulo and La Paz. Future strategy and policy will only be relevant if they are as sensitive to the realities of the woman running the corner store, or the health promoter on a motorbike, as to the fluctuations in global commodity prices.
